Disruption sends us to the future world, where all citizens are required to wear a M-band(which is a bracelet/watch that detects what a person will be, their match and etc). But one doesn’t have to keep them on. When an adolescent turns 18, they are obligated to rate with three other people. If they receive a negative or “neg”, they are removed from society. Where do they go? Well, you have to read to find out.
In the beginning of the book, we find out that Maggie’s father is rated negative. Maggie has a very close and fond relationship with her father. So, when her father is taken from her, she is devastated. This also causes a heavy financial problem for her family. We also learn that Maggie’s father is very interested in technology and before departing, leaves Maggie with a chemical that can “disrupts” a person.
Fast forward, Maggie is on the mission to save her beloved father. She does everything in her power to rescue her dad and to prove her father’s innocence – including blackmail. Driven by her love for her father and family, she doesn’t put anything else into consideration. She solely cares for her goal, to save her father. But if it were us, we would probably do the same. Who wouldn’t do all they can to save their love ones? Unfortunately, this causes her to be selfish. Will Maggie succeed in her rescue? Well, with the “help” from M corp’s heir she might. This is where the love interest, Quentin steps in.
Remember when I said she will do everything and anything she can to save her dad, well, she does. First, she blackmails Gus, a tech genius, then, she blackmails the “spoiled” Quentin. But things don’t go as plan, she soons starts to build feelings for Quentin. Of course, every decision has an outcome. What is the outcome? (Pss: read the book:))
Jessica Shirvington did very well on the build up of this dangerous relationship. I can’t wait to see what happens in the sequel. I really enjoyed the book. Disruption has a very engaging protagonist and has a very exciting plot. But I would say that the outcome is very predictable. But still, i was on the edge of my seat. I felt that Maggie was very real, because like Maggie we all make mistakes. Did I forget to mention that Shirvington leaves the reader on a cliff? Boy do I need book two.
